Thursday – The traditional last task of the year is to trim the years rotation of reed from the edge of Platt Pond and rake it up in to a big pile. This keeps part of the pond as open water year round, ensuring it doesn’t clog up over time. The pond is home to Great crested Newt, a species in decline, so looking after this patch is important.
There is also some fence posts to repair near the lovely new bike racks we installed in the summer.
For those of you on the nice list there will be mince pies and hot mulled apple juice over the fire.
