Tuesday – We will working in the open area outside of the Middle Heath enclosure alongside the main path. This will be a mixture of pulling some of the smaller Birch saplings that are out in the open and felling some of the larger tightly packed ones that are on the woodland edge. The idea is to have a slow transition of height gradient between the heathland and the woodland, not a sudden change of 40ft between low growing Heather bushes to towering mature trees. This gappy, scrubby, woodland-edge habitat can be a hotbed for biodiversity and is favored by a lot of bird species at breeding time.
Meeting point: Owlbeech Way play area car park
