Tuesday – We will be working along the banks of Chennels Brook to pull as many of the invasive HB plants as possible. You will see that there are less than in previous years – our work is worthwhile – but still plenty of pulling to be done.
**LONG SLEEVES and TROUSERS plus WELLIES RECOMMENDED**
‘Pulling’ HB is a misnomer as it’s more like plucking. The brittle stems have shallow roots and, holding it low down, it is usually pretty easy to just lift the plant from the ground. Having said that, there is always the odd one that breaks and then you have to grovel to find the bit of root. Leaving it is asking for it to continue to grow.
