Thursday – This is a privately owned woodland and the owner, Harvey, has asked for our help in completing some autumnal works to aid in improving the site for wildlife. We have visited the site before and found plenty to do. These tasks have included: collecting litter from a (dry-ish) pond; clearing rhododendron; weeding out bramble from a hedgerow; and sorting out some scrap materials to be collected at a later date.
This is a slightly out of the way site for some of us, so lift sharing where possible will be really helpful and much appreciated. It’s a lovely spot with a bit of history to it and worth making the effort to get there. As you will see, there could be a lot of work to do. You will meet Harvey and understand that he could do with our help.
Harvey’s Wood directions may help you get there
Meeting point: Honeywood Lane, RH5 5QA (postcode of North Lodge). The postal address is Dorking but as you will see from the map it is much nearer Horsham and less than 5 miles atcf.
Take the track to the left of “North Lodge” shown in the image below, not the adjacent Monks Lane, and drive up for about a quarter of a mile. Stop when you see a wooden cabin on your right hand side.
