Created from a former brickworks, Southwater Country Park covers 90 acres (36 ha). There is a café beside the lake.
Level, surfaced paths provide an easy-going lakeside walk. A selection of outdoor activities are on offer including an adventure-style play area, orienteering course, tuition in canoeing and sailing.
The beautiful wildlife area of ‘The Quarry’, is managed for nature conservation. It supports wildlife such as lizards, kingfishers, nightingales in addition to various butterflies and dragonflies.
The adjacent Downs Link Bridleway passes through the Park, making it a base to explore further afield on foot, bike, or horse.
Parking is free on weekdays between 1st November and 31st March. At other times, HGG members working in the Park will be issued with vouchers valid for that morning.
For more information about the Country Park, visit the website of Horsham District Council.
